RACE REPORT:

Tidbinbilla – 3rd May

What a horrible day for race! And most of the club must have also thought so – only 19 hard-core riders braved the weather. Despite the weather everyone was in great spirits , with lots of bantering on the start line.

After a bit of a change in the advertised course due to issues with the turn point Geals Creek turn point, the riders were set off to go to the tracking station twice.

A and B started together, first to the finish was A grade - Charles Nicoll closely followed by Brendan Byatt and B grade saw David Dickson first and Peter Prammer second. C grade had the biggest a bunch of day (5) with new comer Toby Driscoll first, Owain Tilley a close second and John Paul DeSousa 3rd. With only one starter in D and in E, they started together. Richard Gorrell and Terry Merrigan basically doing a time trial, though Terry did a fine effort to try and keep up. F grade saw Luke McGowan just beat an’ in form’ James Meredith. Berine Crowe was first and Paul Robey second in G grade.

There was nearly as many marshals as riders which allowed us to put on a tail car as added precaution in the wet conditions. Thanks to Angie Wren, Belinda Wren, Jeff Gough, Eddie O’Farrell, Frank O’Sullivan, Paul Scherl, Bruce Jones, Graham Hendie and Henry Beaverstock.

Hopefully everyone has thawed out.

Thanks to Pat Rooke for race refereeing.
