Registration for 2016

PLEASE NOTE: No riders will be permitted to compete in 2016 unless they are registered. This is to ensure that members have insurance coverage while competing in events. Rider registration will be checked at the signon desk tomorrow night. If you register at the last minute before coming out to the track, please bring along a copy of the confirmation email.

To register go to the IMG site. Logon with the username and password that you used to register last year. The annual subscription for 2016 remains unchanged.

If you have forgotten your password, go to top right hand corner and click on username and password. That will enable IMG to send you another password to your email address. To ensure you transfer the numbers and letters correctly it is advised to cut and paste.

Any queries please direct them to membership@actvets.cc and not the contact on the password retrieval page.

RACE REPORTS:

Stromlo Criterium – 5th November

Event cancelled due to rain.

Yes, the rain soon lifted around six. I cancelled the event as it was raining in Weston Creek at the time I had to notify officials and first aid whether it was on or not. This, of course, was much earlier than when the main races where scheduled to be held.

Narrabundah Track Racing – 6th January

Only nine riders participated in the 6-Jan track session, although the participants had a great night’s racing. The weather was windy. Some sporadic rain may have contributed to the low turnout. However, despite threatening clouds, the track remained dry for the entire session.

The 8-lap scratch race was an all-in affair with B grade given just under a half a lap start on A grade. A grade seemed befuddled for the first three laps and made little progress on a very enterprising B Grade bunch, rolling over efficiently. As the laps ticked by, someone from A grade needed to take up a serious pursuit. Michael Langdon volunteered for this role and just gained the lead B grader in time to take the sprint. Peta Brill, from B grade rode brilliantly all evening and took the sprint consolation followed by Ben Davis, Craig Kentwell and Phil Coulton.

The 16 lap points race was another all-in affair due to the low turnout. B Grade were given a full half lap start on A grade. The B grade bunch comprising Peta Brill, Ed Garnett and Phil Coulton held a cracking pace by working together. This allowed them to take the first sprint in that order. Ed Garnett and Peta Brill from B grade kept working and held on to take the second sprint in that order. By the third sprint, A grade had caught the B grade remnants. Michael Langdon took the final sprint. Incredibly, Peta Brill held on for further sprint points by taking second. In the wash up, Peta Brill gained the most points followed by Ed Garnett and Michael Langdon.

The track session closed with an all-in, Italian pursuit. This race was exciting, as usual. Peta Brill was having a successful night, so Team 2 wisely elected to go with her as anchor rider. As she was matched against Michael Langdon from A grade, it was essential that Team 2 gain an early lead. The race unfolded in text book fashion for Team 2. Bruce Griffin, Ben Davis and Craig Kentwell put in exemplary laps to give Peta a lead in the final lap against Michael Langdon. Initially, it appeared that Michael would close the gap. However, with a wind advantage over the last half lap, Peta proved too fast to catch. The winning margin was only a few metres. Congratulations to both teams for a fine pursuit.

Major place getters were as follows:
8-Lap Scratch: Michael Langdon, Peta Brill, Ben Davis, Craig Kentwell, Phil Coulton.
16-Lap Points Race: Peta Brill (13pts), Ed Garnett (12 pts), Michael Langdon (10pts), Ben Davis (4 pts), Cameron Ermert & John Barlow (3pts).
Combined Italian Pursuit: Winner, Team 2 (Bruce Griffin, Ben Davis, Craig Kentwell, Peta Brill).
