76 starters and 6 officials. The brilliant afternoon sunshine brought out some the best, including John Backhouse (who had been hibernating for some time) and a swag of tandem racers.

Lindy Hou (with Ashley Carruthers) was the tandem victor ahead of Brandie O'Connor (with Kerry Knowler). But ladies were also highly competitive in other grades. Mayumi Delbridge won G grade ahead of the ever-consistent Jing Huang in third place; Barbara Bayliss was 3rd in F grade ahead of Liz Lowe scoring points in fifth place; Angela Wren scored an excellent third in E, while Jan Koehler again proved her fitness to place fourth behind some race-hardened gents in D grade.

Elsewhere, Christophe Barberet had the honour of leading the rest home in pursuit of Ian Downing in A grade; Peter Klein escaped from Robert Langridge, Jason Quayle and Nick Boylan in B; Robert Britten bettered Bryan Holloway's efforts in C; Kim Malcolm beat Terry Smith to the line in E; and Ray Hooper had to contend with a revitalized Malcolm Tew to win F grade's race.

Many thanks to Race director Owain Tilley and his five helpers for making this event safe and enjoyable.

M & H Trophy Event: Time Trial Saturday 6 August
The event on Sat 6 Aug is an Age Standard Time Trial at Lookout Hill. It is the M & H Trophy which is a perpetual trophy donated by Henry and Marylin Beaverstock. The trophies (one for men and one for women) go to those who beat their age standard time by the greatest amount. This is not necessarily the fastest time, and in the history of the event the trophy has rarely been won by the quickest rider.

To make the event more interesting and hopefully encourage more competitors, Henry and Marylin have now kindly donated a second pair of trophies (one for men and one for women) for the riders with the fastest times.

As usual there will also be medals for the first three places against age standard. Henry will be present at the race to make the presentations.

Club Clothing on Sale this Saturday
We will open a club clothing store at Stromlo next Saturday from, about, 2:30 to 3:30. Some information on the clothing is available at www.actvets.cc/forsale/clubclothing

We also have old stock from Ventou at a reduced price, but only in limited sizing. Payment can be made by cash or cheque, or online (www.actvets.cc/membership/eftpayments ) at a later date if additional contact details are given.

Note: The Ventou brand is the old brand of clothing, we have now moved to Tripleplay. We have reduced the price on the Ventou clothing to try to sell the old stock, but the design is the same with both brands.
