Many of you are hanging out for news in regards to the event and the Race Committee would like to apologise for being a slow in providing an update.
We have had some problems with road approvals which, thanks to club secretary Dennis Puniard’s tireless efforts, are now signed off.
There are some significant changes to various aspects of the event so please read carefully.

DAY 1 Saturday 31st March 2012
Registrations
Registrations will open at 10:00am and close at 10:45am and be in the usual spot held at the top of the hill northeast of the Gunning Township. It is recommended that riders park at the showgrounds.
The cost will be $25 for the race and must be a current member of the club within the AVCC. Please note that we do not have day licences available, but you are able to join on the day. A year’s membership is $90.
Riders will need to bring their helmet to the registration desk for inspection. Please note that it is an AVCC requirement that all riders must wear a helmet which meets Australian Standards.
Riders will also be issued a ribbon to attach to their number which will indicate their Grade and must be attached to the right hand side.
Riders must register on the Saturday and must have started the previous stage to compete the next stage. (i.e. if you don’t ride Saturday then you cannot start on Sunday)
Prologue
All grades will complete the same 4km course – this is the traditional course starting from the top of the hill and heading northeast along the Old Hume Hwy towards Breadalbane.
Prologue will start at 11:00am and riders will be sent off at 30 second intervals by grade in the following order - G, A, B, C, D, E, F, Tandem.

All grades will complete the same 50km course – the new course uses elements of the Dalton course. The start point is just passed the railway bridge on the Dalton Rd from within the township. From here we will race through Dalton up some hill to the end of the asphalt (25km) and return to the start/finish line. There will a sprint prime on each leg which is located southeast of Dalton near the gravel pit (our normal start/finish line).

Bonus time will be allocated on both primes for the first three positions (1st – 3 seconds, 2nd – 2 seconds and 3rd 1 second) and for the first five positions (1st – 5 seconds, 2nd – 4 seconds, 3rd - 3 seconds, 4th – 2 seconds and 5th – 1 second) at the finish.

There will a sprint prime on each leg which is located at the top of the ridge near the middle of the course. Those grades doing the second lap will be able to collect a water bottle, provided by the club, at the start/finish line. This turn will be considered neutral 100m prior and after to facilitate this collection.
Bonus time will be allocated to each grade on both primes for the first three positions (1st – 3 seconds, 2nd – 2 seconds and 3rd 1 second) and for the first five positions (1st – 5 seconds, 2nd – 4 seconds, 3rd - 3 seconds, 4th – 2 seconds and 5th – 1 second) at the finish.
