Some other Canberra Events

• Everesting for Nepal - 20th June 2015

On the 25th of April a major earthquake hit Nepal. Almost 9,000 people were killed and a further 22,000 injured. There are still tens of thousands of people displaced due to the damage caused. To make matters worse the monsoon season will soon be arriving.

Many people have already donated to the cause but for any that haven’t the people in Nepal still need support. So to assist this cause myself and a group of local cyclists, Marcus O’Toole, Justin Ling, Luke Austin, Gaye Bourke (the Queen of Everesting) and Kate Taylor are looking to raise money by “Everesting” the National Arboretum in Canberra on the 20th of June.

What will it take?

- 77 laps of the National Arboretum

- 240km and 8848m of straight up.

- 15+ hours of solid riding.

Please help us by donating to raise funds for Nepal. Come out and support… possibly ride support laps, or go the whole way! Remember this is Canberra and it is the middle of winter, close to the shortest day of the year, it will be dark and cold… very, very cold. You can donate at here

Honeysuckle Creek Graded Scratch – 13th June

What a great day for a race! The weather was perfect, no wind, no rain and not hot. 51 riders lined up for the annual hill climb challenge up Apollo Rd.

First to set off on the 28km course was the lone G-grader, Bernie Crowe, then every 2 minute after F, E, D, C, B then A grade. The 12minute wait didn’t do anything to stop A-grade from crossing the line first. Steve Crispin only took 54.15 to complete the race, more than a minute faster than Peter Marshall followed by Marc Vroomans. The B-grade placegetters David Wilson, Tadam – Ashley Carruthers & Don Mankewich then Craig Tozer. C-grade Martin Graham, Stuart Roseler then David Stewart-Thomson. D-grade Des Brown, Tony Beasley then Steve Simms. Sue Powell (D) was the fastest woman for the day completing the race in 1.08.32. E-grade Jan Koehler, Baden White then Vanessa Goodspeed. F-grade Babara Bayliss, Mike Spoljaric then Edward Joliffe.

Thanks to turn controllers Belinda Wren and Dale Kleeman, and the marshals Frank O’Sullivan, Reinhard Mauch, Mary Lovett, James Meredith, Graham Hendrie and Bruce Jones.
